E-Bike & E-Scooter Safety
Electric Mobility in Our Village
Electric bicycles, electric scooters, and other motorized personal transportation devices are becoming more common throughout Illinois. The State of Illinois provides the legal framework governing the use of these vehicles, including where and how they may be operated. Specifically, electric scooters cannot be used unless authorized by local ordinance.
To ensure consistency with state law and to address local safety concerns, the Village has adopted an ordinance regulating electric bicycles, electric scooters, motorized skateboards, and unlicensed off-road vehicles. This ordinance is designed to promote safe use, protect pedestrians and motorists, and clarify rider responsibilities within the Village.
The sections below outline the rules, requirements, and safety considerations for each type of vehicle, along with a link to the full Village ordinance.
