Bed & Breakfast Establishments
Bed & Breakfast Establishments 3-10
A Bed and Breakfast is defined as a single-family dwelling which is owner/operator occupied and where guests are provided room and breakfast in return for monetary payment. All of the Bed and Breakfast Standards must be met, and no guest shall be permitted to stay for more than ten (10) consecutive days, or more than thirty (30) total days in any twelve (12) month period. Bed and Breakfast establishments do not include hotel/motels or short-term rentals.
A special use is required prior to applying for a license or required permits.
The term for licenses issued under this chapter is for one year from January 1 - December 31, and the licenses must be renewed each year. License fees are non-refundable. The initial license fee and the annual license renewal fee are as follows:
- Initial license fee= $300.00 (includes one (1) background check)
- Renewal license fee= $100.00
- Additional background checks= $100.00 each
Annual inspections will be made by the Village Building and Permits Department and the Oswego Fire Protection District, if deemed necessary.
The owner/operator of a bed and breakfast establishment shall have a minimum of $1,000,000.00 in liability insurance to cover all bed and breakfast guests. A copy of insurance coverage needs to be submitted with the initial license application and renewal of the license. The owner/operator will be required to notify the Village of insurance cancellations.
