Oswego Police Obtain Additional Charges in Armed Robbery Arrest

Arrestee: RODGERS, Timothy J., 22, DeKalb
Charges: Armed Robbery (Class X Felony), Armed Violence (Class X), Aggravated Robbery (Class 1), Robbery (Class 2), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4)

[Oswego, IL] - The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office has approved four additional felony charges against Timothy J. RODGERS of DeKalb, including Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card). These charges are in addition to the previously approved charges of Armed Robbery and Armed Violence.

Rodgers appeared for a detention hearing on Monday, April 27, where he was ordered to remain in custody pending further court proceedings. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 22, 2026.

On April 25, 2026, at approximately 3:24 a.m., Oswego Police responded to the 200 block of Concord Drive South for a report of shots fired. The investigation revealed a victim had been robbed at gunpoint while in his vehicle outside his residence on Concord Dr S. The victim reported he was approached by a suspect who displayed a firearm and demanded his property. The victim was able to retrieve a firearm from his residence and ran after the suspect. When the suspect pointed a firearm at him, the victim fired multiple shots and the suspect fled in a vehicle. The victim followed and the incident continued northbound on Orchard Road into Aurora, where both vehicles were involved in a crash near Interstate 88. Two individuals fled from the suspect vehicle. One individual, Timothy J. Rodgers of DeKalb, was located, taken into custody, and subsequently charged. A second individual remains outstanding.

Detectives continue to actively investigate the incident and are following up on leads to identify and locate the second individual involved. Arrestee: RODGERS, Timothy J, 22 YOA, 1000 block of Lincoln Hwy, DeKalb

Charges: Armed Robbery (Class X Felony), Armed Violence (Class X Felony)

At approximately 3:24 a.m., on Saturday, April 25, 2026, Oswego Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Concord Drive South for a report of shots fired. During the investigation, officers learned that a driver involved in a crash in Aurora reported being robbed at gunpoint in Oswego by individuals in the other vehicle.

The victim reported he was sitting in his car outside his home when he was approached by the suspect who displayed a firearm and robbed him. The victim then retrieved a firearm from his residence and chased after the suspect. The victim reported that the suspect pointed a gun at him and the victim fired multiple shots at the suspect. The suspect fled in their vehicle.

The victim returned to his vehicle and followed the suspect vehicle northbound on Orchard Road until both vehicles crashed near Orchard Road and Highway I-88. Two individuals fled from the suspect vehicle. One was located by Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies and turned over to the Oswego Police Department. The second individual has not yet been located.

Oswego Police received approval from the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office to charge Timothy J. RODGERS, of DeKalb, with armed robbery and armed violence, both Class X Felonies. Rodgers was transported to the Kendall County Jail to await a pre-trial hearing on Monday, April 27, 2026. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue efforts to locate the second suspect. Police are encouraging anyone with information to call 630-551-7300.  Alternatively, information may be provided to Kendall Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999. Callers remain anonymous and tips leading to arrests are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.00.
