Oswego Police arrested 48-year-old Antonio L. ALEXANDER of Aurora, for burglary, theft, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer on Thursday, October 23, 2025, after he allegedly stole a cash register from a Jewel Food Store.

At approximately 2:18 p.m. on October 23, Oswego Police were dispatched to the Jewel Food Store in the 2500 block of Route 30, Oswego, for a burglary in progress. It was reported a man removed a cash register from the store, broke it open in the store parking lot, and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Responding officers located a man matching the suspect’s description in a marshy area northeast of Route 30 and Douglas Road in Montgomery and established a perimeter. Police requested assistance from the Kane County Sheriff’s Officer K-9 Unit. Officers were able to maintain visual contact while the man continually refused repeated commands to surrender. After officers announced that a police canine would be deployed if he failed to comply, the suspect continued to be noncompliant and attempted to flee. The canine was deployed and the suspect was quickly apprehended by police and taken into custody.

Store employees identified the suspect as the person who stole the cash register. Antonio ALEXANDER was arrested, and the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a felony burglary charge. ALEXANDER was also charged with misdemeanor theft, resisting a peace officer, and obstructing a peace officer. ALEXANDER was processed at the Oswego Police Department and transported to the Kendall County Jail to await a hearing.

The Oswego Police Department would like to thank the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery Police Department for their assistance.
