Aurora Man Arrested for Burglary and Felony Retail Theft

Arrestee: Esquivel-Medina, Marcello, 37 YOA, 1300 block of 5th Street, Aurora

Charges: Burglary (Class 2 Felony), Retail Theft (Class 3 Felony)

At approximately 10:05 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, Oswego Police were dispatched to a report of a theft in progress at Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 2470 Route 34. It was reported that two males each took a bicycle from the store and left without paying. Officers located one of the suspects on Route 34, in possession of two other bicycles. Marcello Esquivel-Medina was positively identified as one of the individuals involved in the theft and was taken into custody without incident. Following the arrest, the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges of burglary and felony theft. Oswego Police later conducted a follow-up at the Esquivel-Medina’s residence in Aurora, where the two stolen bicycles were recovered. The second suspect has not been located, and the investigation is ongoing.
