The Oswego Police Department announced it issued 73 citations during the Memorial Day “Click It or Ticket” enforcement period.

“Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts save lives,” said Oswego Police Spokesperson Cathy Nevara.

During the enforcement period, Oswego Police wrote 56 citations for seat belt violations and took following additional enforcement actions:

• 10 distracted driving citations issued
• 1 fugitive apprehended
• 2 suspended/revoked/no valid license arrests made
• 1 uninsured motorist citations issued
• 1 speeding citation issued
• 2 other driving citations issued
