Free spring cleanup week is April 15-19 in Oswego
During the week of April 15-19, Groot Industries, the Village of Oswego’s contracted waste hauler, will collect additional household waste, yard waste, and bulk items from the curb for free.
Yard waste must be placed in 30-gallon Kraft paper bags and placed at the curb, but stickers will not be required during this week.
Residents cannot put out appliances, televisions, or electronics during this collection.
Place all items at the curb along with your regular garbage and recycling by 6 a.m. on your regularly scheduled collection day. If you have any questions regarding this special collection week, contact Public Works at 630-554-3242.
What about electronics?
Electronics will not be collected during this spring cleanup, however, residents have two options for electronics collection:
On Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, the Village will host a Community Recycling Day, sponsored by Groot, at the Oswego Public Works Facility, 100 Theodore Drive. This collection will include most kinds of electronics for free, including television sets of all kinds. This event is open to Oswego residents only and ID will be required. For more information on accepted items, visit http://www.oswegoil.org/news-and-events/news-details.aspx?ID=8530
Residents can also schedule collection of electronics from their homes by calling Groot Industries at 800-244-1977. A fee may apply for this service.
Remember, electronics cannot be put at the curb, according to Illinois law.
