State Parks

Starved Rock State Park
Located in Utica, IL on the Illinois River, one mile south of Utica, 4 miles south of I-80, Starved Rock State Park is open year round. Whether you enjoy hiking along the nature trails, or viewing the many spectacular overlooks along the Illinois River, recreational opportunities abound. From picnics to fishing to boating, from horseback riding to camping to enjoying winter sports, there's so much to do, you'll want to come back again and again.

Highlighting the setting to your activities are 18 stream-fed canyons, formed by glacial meltwater and stream erosion. They slice dramatically through tree-covered, sandstone bluffs for 4 miles at Starved Rock State Park, which is located along the south side of the Illinois River, one mile south of Utica, and midway between the cities of LaSalle-Peru and Ottawa.
