American LegionThe American Legion
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. The Oswego American Legion Post #675 was chartered in 1933. The post has been at the present location, 19 W. Washington since 1947. It has expanded from the original two story house to include the banquet hall and downstairs bar/dining area. The post is also home to the Ladies Auxiliary Unit and the Sons of the American Legion Squadron. We charter two Boy Scout troops and participate in many scouting events and ceremonies. The post sponsors the annual Memorial Day parade, and also the Veterans Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Plaza. Our organization also participates in many of the Village of Oswego activities and events. To join our post or to get more information concerning events and hall rentals, contact us by phone (630) 554-8751. PACE - Parents And Community for Excellence
This volunteer organization of parents, teachers, administrators and community leaders is dedicated to the support and expansion of programs for Academically Talented (AT)/Gifted students in School District 308 -- including Oswego, Montgomery and parts of Aurora, Plainfield and Joliet.

At the local level PACE volunteers participate in District committees to advocate on behalf of the AT community of children.  PACE invites experts to share information and tools with parents and teachers to better understand gifted children, to learn how to advocate for them, and to help them thrive.  PACE also hosts annual events such as Hands on Science Night, the Summer Enrichment Activities Fair, and an Annual AT Teacher/Student recognition night.

At the state level, PACE is affiliated with the Illinois Association for Gifted Children (IAGC) and its network of hundreds of parent groups across the state.  PACE volunteers also coordinate an annual caravan of over 100 families and teachers from our 5-city area to participate in a lobbying effort we call "Springfield Day -- Don't Leave Our Children Behind."  To learn more about PACE, or to become a member,
